We're back from Catholic World Youth Day
Massive tan, dusty shoes, some leftover spanish tortilla, a manga cartoon book about the Pope and a fair few badges from around the world.
We’re back from Catholic World Youth Day in Madrid with slightly heavier luggage, but massively expectant hearts.
We joined over a million other people from all over the world in Madrid for World Youth Day. The streets in Madrid were absolutely packed with young ‘pilgrims’ who’d come to see the Pope and to celebrate God together.
There was an amazing atmosphere something akin that of the ‘world cup’ that couldn’t be better summed up than by this video that Ben Cantelon from Worship Central took when he was waiting for the metro.
Student Alpha was there to help equip these young people to share their faith with their friends. We had a stand in Plaza de Espana (yes our Spanish is primitive, and yes it did cause a few issues...) equipped with loads of Alpha resources and Alpha experts from Malaysia, Singapore, France, Africa, the UK and of course Spain.
We could not be more excited for the next World Youth Day in Rio de Janiero in 2013. We hope we’ll see you there!
