Truly International
There are around 3,000 spoken languages in the world, 195 countries, and 6.9 billion people.
A fair few of those languages, countries and people came together this week for Alpha International Week.
It was a pretty large affair. (More stats) 6,000 sandwiches, 5,000 apples, and 600 gluten free salads were consumed and an incredible 19,000 cups of coffee were drunk (mostly by the Youth Alpha Team...)
Alpha International Week is when people from all over the world who are running the Alpha Course come together in London to get trained, get inspired and get refreshed.
We had more than 30 people with us who head up Youth Alpha or Student Alpha in their country. They came from Canada, Chile, Germany, Australia, Ghana, Zimbabwe and loads of other exciting places. Worship Central lifted the roof as everyone came together at the end of conference party – it was absolutely brilliant.
But Thursday reminded us what it was all about – Tiri (our Youth Alpha coordinator in Zimbabwe, here for his first time in England) had just got into conversation with some passers by at the end of the church drive. He couldn’t help but share his faith with them because he was so excited about what Jesus has done in his life.
