Save the date for a party with a difference on 10/10/10
We’ve been spending some time with a great little charity called HOPEHIV who are celebrating 10 years of serving Africa’s orphan generation (check out their video here to see what they’ve been up to). Student Alpha love a birthday party! Here’s what they had to say:
“We’d be really chuffed with some help in making our birthday celebrations a success - so we’re asking everyone to organise a fun get-together on Sunday 10/10/10 in aid of HOPEHIV. What that looks like (movie marathons, Wii tournaments, tea parties before or after church…?) and who gets invited (best mates, your Student Alpha group, the lonely looking neighbour you spotted…?) is totally up to you.
Just get 10 folk to come, ask them to donate £10 to the cause, and encourage them to think about supporting HOPEHIV in the future. It’s a great opportunity to have fun with friends, raise much needed funds, and help the charity gather a new wave of supporters who will stand with them for the next 10 years. (It could also be a great way of introducing friends who don’t go to church to some that do, or of getting to know the people in your Student Alpha group better).
More than anything, it’s an easy way to turn your faith into action, and use who you are to help make a huge difference to children and young people orphaned and made vulnerable by AIDS. Hundreds of people around the country will be doing it too, and together, you’ll be carrying HOPEHIV into the future.
There’s more info and all sorts of useful stuff to get you started at www.hopehiv.org/my101010 And you can email any questions to lindsay@hopehiv.org. Looking forward to hearing about what you get up to!"
