Food

So we all know the way to a student’s heart is through their stomach!

And on Student Alpha we’ve realised that food is an absolutely essential part of running your course. Not only are students always pretty hungry and up for some free grub, but it’s also such a key part of spending time with one another and getting to know each other. Most importantly Jesus led by example and taught us the importance and significance of eating together.

If you’re struggling for ideas why not check out our recipe suggestions (for all budgets and tastes):

On a shoestring

More than a pound to spend

For those running Student Alpha Small I realise not all of you are budding chefs wanting to whip up weekly culinary masterpieces that Jamie Oliver would be proud of... Not to fear, there are loads of creative ways to make cheap and easy meals to delight your guests without creating extra stress for yourself.

Some of you might be thinking ‘what about us? We’re running Student Alpha Big!’

Cooking for more than 12 people can be a bit tricky, so it will need a bit more thought and preparation. One option could be getting a caterer or team from your church to help you out. This is what we do for the Central London Student Alpha course each year, which works brilliantly and is very good value. Where would we be without Nina & Caroline!

Otherwise you could rope in some small groups from your church or CU, asking them to help cater for one of the 7 evenings on your course. Alternatively you could just offer cakes or puddings and coffee and get different people to make the cakes or puddings each week.

If you need any help or ideas with regards to the all important topic of food on your course please do check out our recipes or get in touch. We at Student Alpha Towers, love to talk about food at all times and can definitely help you release your inner-chef. Alternatively we can put you in touch with our friends … the local pizza parlour!
